OŚWIADCZENIE KOLEKTYWU DECENTRUM

DeCentrum squat przy ul.Częstochowskiej 14/2 w Białymstoku istnieje od 5 lat. W naszym mieście spełniamy rolę Alternatywnego Ośrodka Kultury: organizujemy koncerty zespołów z całego świata (do tej pory ok. 100 koncertów), co na tle instytucji kulturalnych w naszym mieście jest sporym osiągnięciem.

Na DC odbywały się też próby lokalnych zespołów, wystawy najróżniejszych artystów w galerii OUT OF CONTROL (min. w ramach Dni Sztuki Współczesnej 2005), również warsztaty dla dzieci, darmowe korepetycje itd. Dzięki DeCentrum Białystok jest ważnym punktem na mapie alternatywnej Polski, promujemy miasto na całym świecie przez nasze kontakty.

Głównym punktem naszej działalności jest jednak akcja JEDZENIE ZAMIAST BOMB - od 4 lat w każdą niedzielę o 14 na ulicy Suraskiej rozdajemy gorące wegetariańskie posiłki wszystkim potrzebującym. Produkty żywnościowe kupujemy za pieniądze uzyskane z koncertów na DeCentrum. Squat to również miejsce gdzie gotujemy te posiłki, teraz gdy straciliśmy lokal, dalszy los akcji stoi pod znakiem zapytania i ok. 80 osób co tydzień traci szanse na gorący obiad.

DeCentrum było również miejscem gdzie kilka osób mieszkało tam na codzień, teraz osoby te zostały bez dachu nad głową.

DeCentrum to nie tylko budynek, lecz grupa ludzi zaangażowana w sprawy społeczne i w rozwój kulturalny Białegostoku. Leży nam na sercu los naszego miasta, chcemy tu normalnie żyć, rozwijać swoje pasje, teraz na pewno wielu z nas z braku zajęcia i miejsca do realizacji swoich pomysłów wybierze wyjazd za granicę. Próbujemy robić coś dla siebie i dla innych nie prosząc władzy ani sponsorów o dotacje. Poświęcamy swój czas, nerwy i energię by budować coś co niektórzy nazywają "społeczeństwem obywatelskim". Bierzemy swoje sprawy w swoje ręce, co na pewno jest kontrowersyjne i niewygodne dla wielu ludzi.

Decyzja władz miasta Białegostoku o ewikcji Naszego Domu jest błędem i uważamy ją za krótkowzroczną. Miasto powinno nie tyle co pomagać takim inicjatywom, ale przynajmniej nie przeszkadzać. Jak widać takie anarchistyczne miejsce nie jest wygodne dla ich interesów, pokazali to nasyłając na nas policyjny aparat represji. Obecni na miejscu urzędnicy nie mieli wiele do powiedzenia dziennikarzom, jakby nie mieli pojęcia o tym co tu się dzieje.

Mimo straty budynku nie załamujemy rąk, mamy coś czego żadna władza nam nie odbierze - nie możecie przecież eksmitować ducha DeCentrum.

Eviction of the DeCentrum squat

During the afternoon of Tuesday 25 October 2005, police went to the DeCentrum squat (in Białystok) with town officials and the owner, with a warrant for clearing the building, these guests didn't use the doorbell and they damaged the door of the squat. When one of the squatters to leave his room quietly, city security guards removed him from the room and put him in the corridor, where two guards held him, he was hit in the face and then he was kicked in the abdomen by a third, and he was threatened with being thrown down the stairs. The squatters removed equipment from the building. STATEMENT BY THE DECENTRUM COLLECTIVE

The DeCentrum squat at 14/2 Częstochowa Street in Białystok has existed for 5 years. In our town we carry out the role of Alternative Cultural Centre: we organise concerts of groups from the whole world (up to now, about 100 concerts), which given the background of cultural institutions in our town, is quite an achievement.

In DC there have also been experiments by local groups, exhibitions of the exceptional artists from the OUT OF CONTROL gallery (e.g. as part of the Modern Art Days 2005), as well as workshops for children, free tutoring and so on. Thanks to DeCentrum, Białystok is an important part of the alternative scene in Poland, we are promoting the city to the whole world thanks to our contacts.

However, the major point of our activities is the FOOD NOT BOMBS action - since four years ago, every Sunday at 14:00 on Suraska Street we provide hot vegetarian food to everyone who needs it. We buy the food products using the money raised from concerts at DeCentrum. The squat is also a place where we prepare the food, now that we've lost our space, further actions are hanging under a question mark and about 80 people each week are losing the chance of getting a hot meal.

DeCentrum was also the place where several people lived there everyday lives, now these people don't have a roof over their heads.

DeCentrum is not just a building, but rather a group of people committed to social issues and to the cultural development of Białystok. The destiny of our town is very close to our hearts, we want to live here normally, developing our passions, now it's certain that many of us, due to lack of something to do and a place for implementing our ideas will choose to emigrate. We try to do something for ourselves and for others without requesting any money from the authorities nor from sponsors. We spend our time, nerves and energy building something that some call "citizens' society". We are dealing with things with our own hands, which for sure is something controversial and puts many people ill at ease.

The decision by the town authorities of Białystok to evict Our Home is an error and we warn that it is short-sighted. The town should not only help an initiative such as ours, it should at least not disrupt it. It is obvious that this type of anarchist space is upsetting to the town authorities' interests, which was shown by the sending of the police repressive machinery to us. The town officials present on the spot didn't have much to say to reporters, as if they had no idea what was going on.

Despite losing the building, we will not break ranks, we have something that no authority can take away - it cannot evict the spirit of DeCentrum.

Eviction du squat DeCentrum

Pendant l'apres-midi du mardi 25 octobre 2005, la police est allée au squat DeCentrum (a Białystok) accompagnée par des fonctionnaires municipaux et le propriétaire, munis d'un mandat judiciaire pour l'évacuation des lieux, ces invités n'ont pas sonné, et ils ont abimé la porte du squat. Lorsque l'un des squatters a refusé de partir en douceur, des gardiens de la ville l'ont enlevé du piece vers le couloir, ou deux gardiens le tenaient, il a été frappé dans le visage, il a reçu un coup de pied d'un troisieme dans l'abdomen, et l'on a menacé de lui jeter dans l'escalier. Les squatteurs-rices ont enlevé du matériel de l'immeuble. DÉCLARATION DU COLLECTIF DECENTRUM

Le squat DeCentrum a la rue Częstochowa, 14/2, a Białystok a existé depuis 5 ans. Dans notre ville, nous remplissons le rôle d'un Centre culturel alternatif: nous organisons des concerts de groupes de partout dans le monde (jusqu'ici, 100 concerts environ), ce qui, étant donné la situation des institutions culturelles dans notre ville, est une réussite non-négligeable.

Dans DC il y a eu aussi des expériences des groupes locaux, des expositions des artistes exceptionnel-le-s de la galérie OUT OF CONTROL (ex. en tant que composante des Jours de l'art moderne 2005), ainsi que des ateliers pour des enfants, de l'enseignement gratuit etc. Grace a DeCentrum, Białystok joue un rôle important dans la scene alternative en Pologne, nous promouvons la ville au monde entier a travers nos contacts.

Pourtant, le point principal de nos activités, c'est l'action FOOD NOT BOMBS - depuis quatre ans, tout les dimanches a 14h a la rue Suraska, nous donnons des repas chauds végétariens a tou-te-s qui en ont le besoin. Nous achetons l'alimentation grace a l'argent recueilli aux concerts DeCentrum. Le squat est le lieu ou nous préparons les repas, mais maintenant que nous avons perdu notre lieu, la suite de nos actions est mise en question et 80 personnes environ perdent chaque semaine la possibilité d'obtenir un repas chaud.

DeCentrum a aussi été un lieu ou quelques personnes ont vécu tous les jours, maintenant ils et elles n'ont de toit sur la tete.

DeCentrum n'est pas seulement un immeuble, mais plutôt un groupe de gens engagé-e-s dans les questions sociales et au développement culturel de Białystok. Le destin de notre ville est tres proche de nos coeurs, et nous souhaitons vivre ici normalement, développant nos passions, maintenant il est certain que plusieurs parmi nous, a cause de manque d'activité et de lieu ou réaliser nos idées allons choisir la route de l'émigration. Nous essayons de faire quelque chose pour nous-memes et pour d'autres sans demander un financement des autorités ni des sponsors. Nous investisson tout notre temps, nos émotions et notre énergie construisant quelque chose que certains nomment « la société citoyenne ». Nous faisons des choses avec nos propres mains, ce qui sans doute est controversé et met mal a l'aise nombreuses personnes.

La décision par les autorités de la ville de Białystok d'évacuer notre domicile est une erreur et nous avertissons que c'est court de vue. La ville devrait ne seulement soutenir un initiatif tel que le nôtre, mais devrait au moins ne pas le déstabiliser. Il est évident que ce type d'espace anarchique est dérangeant aux intérets des autorités de la ville, ce qui a été montré par l'envoi chez nous de l'engrenage répressif policier. Les fonctionnaires municipaux sur place n'avaient pas grand chose a dire aux journalistes, comme s'ils n'avaient pas la moindre idée de ce qui se passait.

Malgré la perte de l'immeuble, nous n'allons pas céder, nous avons quelque chose qu'aucune autorité ne puisse pas enlever - elle ne pourrait pas évacuer l'esprit DeCentrum.
